The following information must be shown on Air Waybills and booking record for time and temperature sensitive cargo:
 
  1. The storage temperature requirement shown as, “Keep between X and Y degrees Celsius whenever possible during transportation and storage”.
  2. Only single temperature range is indicated on one Air Waybill.
CI-02

All packages should be clearly marked with their contents and the correct temperature requirement range (in Celsius).
 
CI-03
Time and temperature sensitive cargo offered for carriage must be pre-cooled.

Note
  • For deep frozen product, use ‘t’ type container only. Dry ice must be loaded in both the dry ice bunker (20%) and cargo area (80%) to maintain -20°C. Re-icing the bunker only will not maintain -20°C
  • Since ‘t’ type container does not heat, the container is to be stored in an environment where temperature is at least 10°C to avoid overcool. Avoid exposure to extreme heat or direct sunlight since under such situation dry ice consumption is accelerated. Exposure to temperature 30°C above the set temperature should be limited to 2 hours.
  • One of the following process controls is required to use the ‘t’ type container for Controlled Room Temperature products:

    a. The product is packaged in an insulated overpack before loading in the container.

    b. Aircraft temperature is above 20°C with dry ice in the container bunker.

    c. B744P not applicable.

  • ‘t’ type container require cargo hold ventilation and temperature control during flight.

Tracking Device

  • Tracking devices work with GPS/LTE/3G/4G/5G/etc signals shall be approved by China Airlines Cargo Services & Logistics Division before loaded into CI aircrafts. This requirement does not apply to data loggers work with BLE environment, prior approval is not required.
 
  • Applications for tracking device approval will be accepted starting September 15, 2026. Applicants are requested to download and complete the application form, attach all required supporting documents, and send them to TPEFACI@china-airlines.com. Approved tracking device models are valid for five years. A new application must be submitted upon expiration to renew the approval.
   
  • The following CI aircrafts permit the carriage of tracking devices:
    1. B744F
    2. B777F
    3. B777
    4. A350
    5. A330
    6. A321neo
  • The shipper can only use approved tracking devices and must specify the tracking device model and quantity in the “Handling Information” field of the air waybill. The number of tracking devices used under each air waybill must not exceed the number of packages being tracked.
