EU Journey

Interline transfers of live animals shipments are not accepted, except for dogs and cats.

All poisonous reptiles (snakes and lizards) and insects (e.g. spiders, scorpions) will not be accepted for carriage on passenger flight.

CI-03 Non-human primates will not be accepted for carriage. CI-04 The following fighting breeds of dogs or mixed breeds of such will not be accepted for carriage:   Pit Bull Terrier (including: American Pit Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier) American Bully Fila Brasileiro Japanese Tosa Dogo Argentino Mastiffs (Neapolitan Mastiff, Tibetan Mastiff, Bull Mastiff, Cane Corso, Dogue de Bordeaux)

The following brachycephalic, snub-nosed or mixed breeds of snub-nosed dogs and cats will only be accepted for carriage when:

• total journey time does not exceed 6 hours (total flying and ground time at intermediate point)
• temperature on any portion of their journey will not exceed 21°C (70°F)
• the kennel is one size larger than normally required

Special precautions are required, because these breeds are susceptible to increased risk of heat stroke and breathing problems when exposed to stress or extreme heat.

China Airlines requires the following when shipping or handling these breeds：

1. 1 size larger kennel than is normally required. The kennel must have ventilation on 4 sides.
2. Customers are advised to acclimate the animal to the kennel by letting the animal spend time in the kennel for several days before their departure.
3. No food in the kennel during the flight, just water.

CI-06 Puppies and kittens under 10 weeks old will not be accepted for carriage. CI-07 Strongly smelling animals will not be accepted for carriage on passenger aircraft. CI-08 Live animal originating in tropical regions, e.g. live tropical fish, birds, as well as cold blooded animals (e.g. snake, frog) will not be accepted for carriage if the temperature on any portion of their journey is 10°C (50°F) or lower. CI-09 B738 cargo holds are not permitted to carry live animals, except for those animals, such as tropical fish, eels, crustaceans which do not require ventilation or high temperature. CI-10 Animals accepted as baggage are household cats and dogs, including working dogs. CI-11 For all live animals, the optimum transportation temperature range must be shown in the “Handling Information” box of Air Waybills.

Due to our services may be restricted by airport facilities in various countries and the applicable regulations. Please take note of the following points and evaluate the health of your pets before arranging transportation for your pets.

1. Separation from the owner
   In compliance with customs and quarantine regulations, you may not have access to your pets
   after checking-in at the departing airport until delivery at the destination. Depending on the duration
   of the journey and customs/quarantine procedures, separation may last for days or weeks.
   Given the potential duration of the journey/quarantine, some pets may experience anxiety caused by separation.
2. Noise
   Your pets may be exposed to highly noisy environment before being loaded onboard and
   during the journey / transportation.
   The aircraft noise may be as loud as 115dB.
3. Unfamiliar environment and limited space
    Storage space may be exposed to a large volume of vehicular, human and shipment traffic,
    which could heighten your pets’ anxiety. We therefore strongly recommend
    that you familiarize your pets with crates or similar equipment in the time leading up to the journey
    to minimize your pets’ anxiety when stored in small, enclosed and unfamiliar surroundings.
4. Loading environment
    Before being loaded onto the aircraft, your pets may be placed outdoors temporarily (approx. 1 hour).
    China Airlines provides a designated container to shield your pets from direct sunlight or rain/snow,
    but it is hard to prevent changes in outdoor temperature or humidity.
    Your pets will be loaded in cargo compartment during flight,
    where your pets can experience the same atmospheric pressure ,temperature and humidity as in cabin.
5. Feeding and watering
    It is suggested that sufficient food and water are well-prepared for your pets throughout the whole journey,
    and ensure they are able to consume the food and water without any assistance during the carriage.
    We also suggest train your pets in advance for using water feeder.
6. Risk of Snub-nosed dogs and cats transportation
    Snub-nosed pets are more likely to experience breathing issues and overheating during travel. 
    For the safety of animals, we take additional precautions and regulations for transporting such kinds of pets.

7. Quarantine Regulations
    The U.S. / Canada government prohibit entry of dogs from countries/regions at high risk of rabies. For detailed regulations, please refer to below websites,
